About

My name is Candy and I’ve been studying, practising and writing about astrology for 40 years.

My introduction to astrology back in 1982 changed my life. When I first had my chart interpreted, I experienced an instant expansion in my self awareness and understanding. It was a wonderful feeling. Up until that time, I’d struggled with a number of inner conflicts and there in a flash, astrology offered me clarity and explained to me why I am like I am. It didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know about myself – it just put a name to what I already knew. It also helped me to move from an agnostic world view to a more spiritual perspective. From that very first encounter with astrology I was hooked!

In the late 1980s and into the 1990s I completed studies to practitioner level with the Federation of Australian Astrologers, co-winning the Allan Johnson Gold Medal in 1997. During this time I wrote many articles that were published in a variety of print and online journals including The Mountain Astrologer, FAA Journal and others. I also edited and published the quarterly print journal The Wholistic Astrologer.

My original A Place in Space website, named by one of my children, was born in 1996 in the very early and heady days of the internet. It was a labour of love and its purpose was to showcase my writing and that of other astrologers whose work resonated with my own empowering and healing approach to astrology.

Some time in the early noughties, life got in the way and I put astrology aside for many years, though I still continued to study and practise occasionally. I let my website go and at some point it was cloned by an anonymous person. Now that I’ve retired from my day job I’m excited to present A Place in Space 2.0 and I now offer natal chart readings, with a focus on evolutionary or life purpose astrology.
